Spelling Term 4 Week 1

Act 1.

Endeavour -To try really hard to achieve something. Verb

Microbiologist – The branch of biology that deals with microorganisms. Noun

Meteorologist – A weather forecast. Noun

Metallurgist: The science that deals with procedures used in extracting metals from their ores. Noun

Geophysics – The physics of earth. Noun

Physicist – An expert in or student of physics. Noun

Geologist – An expert in the study of what the earth is made of. Noun

Seismology – The branch of science concerned with earthquakes. Noun

Climatologist –  the science that deals with  climates or climatic conditions. Noun

Laboratory – a room or building equipped for scientific experiments, research, or teaching. Noun

Act 2.

Laboratory- A science place where they do experiments. I went to the laboratory with school.

Meteorologist – A weather forecast person. The meteorologist told us the weather for the week.

Endeavour – To try your hardest. Luke showed great endeavour playing the footy match.

Geologist – To study the earth. The geologist found out what the earths core was made of.

Climatologist – Someone the studies the climate and the climate conditions. The climatologist where trying to find out the average climate is in Australia.

Act 3.

Laboratory – text to self: at school we went to the laboratory.

Geologist – text to self: I learnt what a geologist was while doing this spelling.

Meteorologist – text to self: I watched what the meteorologist on t.v tell us the weather.

Solution: To work this out I needed to look at the goal tally. I then needed to find out who scored the goals against. I found out that Spain had to verse Chile.

Act 1. when I picture something when i’m thinking or it’s just in my head i’m visualizing.when I check something or double check or ask a question it is verifying. The authorities asked me questions and told me what to do. when a caterpillar turns into a butterfly they go trough transformation.

Act 2. a suffix is something that is added to the end of a word.

Solution: It is impossible because there is no black ticket in the bag.

Summary: This was a trick question to see if we read the question properly or to see if we know what the chances are.

Question 22: The sum of three consecutive whole numbers is 96, what are the three numbers?

Prediction: I predict that this is going to be about using my addition skills to get three numbers to equal 96.

Find the big picture: To get three numbers to equal 96.


1. Firstly I thought 3 x 3 = 9, so I thought the numbers might be in the 30’s.

2. Then I thought of three consecutive numbers that add up to 6.

3. Then I knew it would have to be 31, 32, 33.

Summary: The answer was 31+32+33=96. I used prior knowledge to work this question out.
