Maths Mate Term 2 Sheet 4

Question 23. Fill in the missing digits in the sum.

Prediction: I predict that is going to be about edition and using trial and error.

Clarify: Nothing to clarify.

Find the big picture: To use addition and trial and error.

Solution:

1. first I did 7+7=14 but there was a one down the bottom so I added another 7 to make it 21 so I carried the 2.

2. the number down the bottom was 4 so then I did 4+4=8 plus another 4 then plus the one I carried to get 14 so then I carried the one.

3. there was no number down the bottom so I did 3+2+1=6 plus the one I carried made seven.

Summary: The answer was 741, to work this out I used my prior knowledge about addition.
